Elizabeth Bordowitz
Queen Bee
Elizabeth is a Community Development volunteer in Radovis, North Macedonia. She assists the Local Economic Development team at the municipality with project management and grant writing. She teaches a beginning English class and a conversational English class for her co-workers. She also works with CELOR, the local economic development nonprofit, assisting with grant writing and project management and is supporting the Radovis library in its efforts to affiliate with the American Corner in Stip. Additionally, she works with the Peace Corps on the national English Spelling Bee. She is originally from New Jersey and she holds a BA from Rutgers College, a MA in public policy from the Eagleton Institute of Politics of Rutgers University, and a JD from Rutgers School of Law - Camden. Elizabeth has served as General Counsel and CEO to the Finance Authority of Maine and as Vice President, Legal and Administration for the start up Forman S. Acton Educational Foundation. She has served as President of the Portland Maine Public Library and Chair of the Portland Maine Zoning Board of Appeals.
Kalyn Archambault
Rules Coordinator
Kalyn is a Community Development volunteer in Struga, North Macedonia. She’s building capacity of a local multi-ethnic youth theater called The Poshka Theater. She also works with the Red Cross in Struga, supporting their youth club and teaches a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test prep course. Additionally, she works with the Peace Corps on the local and national English Spelling Bee and she often collaborates with the American Corner in Struga. She is originally from New Hampshire and she holds a BA from Keene State College, where she double majored in Psychology and Holocaust and Genocide Studies and minored in Criminal Justice Studies. After graduating, she did two terms of AmeriCorps; one with NCCC FEMA Corps and one as a VISTA volunteer working in a refugee resettlement. Prior to her arrival in-country, Kalyn lived in Massachusetts and worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters creating and managing mentoring programs for youth in central Massachusetts.
Erica Goldaber
Communications Coordinator
Erica is an English Education volunteer outside of Skopje, North Macedonia. She’s working with students at a primary school to improve their English language skills and develop enthusiasm and engagement in the classroom. She also organizes a weekly English Club for older students who wish to practice their skills in a fun and communicative environment. Additionally, she works with the Peace Corps on the local and national Spelling Bee and English Essay contest. She also serves as a mentor for the joint Girls Leading Our World and Young Men’s Leadership Program club in Skopje. This past summer, Erica volunteered as an Environmentalism Facilitator for the GLOW summer camp. She holds a BA from George Washington University in History and Sustainability and has worked with non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area as well as the Holocaust Musuem. Prior to arriving in country, she also worked with the Migrants Help Association and American Corner in Budapest, Hungary.
Emma Alcock
Program Coordinator
Emma arrived in North Macedonia in September of last year. After receiving degrees in Sociology and Hispanic Studies, she returned home to the Chicagoland area. There, Emma completed a one-year term as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer coordinating for a university's service learning program. Currently, she is a Community Development volunteer at Coalition SEGA in Prilep, which serves as the umbrella organization of many youth organizations around the country. In addition to facilitating life skills workshops for youth, Emma has been collaborating with the local youth council to update their strategic plan. Currently, she is working on restarting both the GLOW club and the youth-led radio station in her community.
Zane Evans
Rules Coordinator
Zane is a Teaching English as a Foreign Language volunteer in Probistip, North Macedonia. He works at Kiril i Metodij primary school in Zletovo, where he teaches English to first through ninth grades, holds clubs for English, assists students competing in English Competitions, and is actively developing an English Cabinet. He also works with Peace Corps on the English Spelling Bee, and national English Essay Challenge. Zane is from Texas. He graduated with a BA in English from the University of the Incarnate Word. During university, he accumulated more than forty hours of community service through volunteering for local and presidential campaigns, San Antonio Food Bank, San Antonio Club House, and events on campus. Prior to
arriving in North Macedonia, Zane was an intern at the United States Department of Agriculture working for the Packers and Stockyards Division in Washington DC.
Joseph DeFelice
Program Coordinator
Joseph is an English language volunteer who lives in Veles, North Macedonia. He is currently working at a primary school to develop engaging and enthusiastic lessons when it comes to teaching English. Twice a week he teaches an adult language class at the library in Veles and is excited as well to be a part of the Spelling Bee committee this year. He holds a BA from the College of Wooster in Biology and previously worked in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a City Year member.
Cameron Herron
Communications Coordinator
Cameron is a TEFL volunteer in Demir Kapija. He works in the local primary school as well as the primary school in the neighboring village. He is originally from La Jolla, California, but spent the last 20 years in Atlanta, Georgia, where he enjoyed spending time with family and volunteering for disaster relief efforts and employability events for those less fortunate. He graduated with a degree in Print Journalism from Georgia State University in 2009. He enjoys creating fun and interesting activities for his students. When he is not working, Cameron enjoys hiking throughout Demir Kapija, biking and spending time with his host family.
